--Do you take liberties with canon or are you very strict about your fic being canon compliant?

Well, I write slash. And since I still define "slash" as "non-canon-same-sex-relationships" (that is, Clark/Bruce is slash, Midnighter/Apollo or Kate Kane/Renee Montoya isn't), I'm immediately setting off on a path away from canon to some extent.

That said, I do usually like to stick fairly closely to canon having made that one change! Right now both of the long stories I'm working on are non-canon (one is an alternate universe, one is a divergent-history), but that is REALLY unusual for me. But after you've written as much in DC canon as I have (a check of AO3 stats reveals I've written over 1,600,000 words there, most of it Clark/Bruce, of course) you start to want to try something a little different. Recently I'm actually wanting to work in canon more, so that's good!

I got a bunch of writing done this week, most of it emergency "Oh crap I have to get this next chapter written to make my personal arbitrary deadline" writing, but that's still good, I still made them. This is my last weekend free for a while, so I'm hoping to get some good work done during it--wish me luck!
How about you, what are you working on and how close is it to canon right now?

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! I hope the end of the year beings you nothing but light and love.

--If you were to revise one of your older fics from start to finish, which would it be and why?

Probably Music of the Spheres, which I still love but I think has some unfortunate melodramatic excesses and missed notes here and there. I've wanted to continue it for a while now, but I think my writing style has shifted a bit and I'm afraid that would be noticeable...

How has writing been going? I'm hoping to tackle the Yuletide archive soon...my main fic has gone unloved save by its recipient, but they left a wonderful enough note to make it all worthwhile. <3 With Yuletide out of the way, it's back to long series and maybe a hope of writing some one-shots here and there!

--If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?

Oooooh. *starry eyes* I think I'd go with 36 Views of Mt. Fuji, because there'd be lots of Japanese scenery (and cute guys taking baths, muahaha). Also it has an extended dream-world sequence and it would be fun to break into a sort of strange CG for that...

I am in the US right now at a conference! Dealing with jet lag, BUT I got a lot of writing done on the plane ride and when a panel isn't interesting I cheat and work a little more (I've gotten a surprising amount done with the latter method...sorry, academic paper on the use of emoticons!). Oh, today I went to a panel on comic-book rhetoric which was one of the better so far, although the participants spent a distressing amount of time bashing DC over Marvel, boooo. Can't we all just get along? (Admittedly, DC deserved some of it).

Post is up late because I was dropping my young houseguest off at the airport! She was a very nice guest, but... *dances and pulls all of her inappropriate fannish material out of the dark boxes where she had hidden it.*

Also, I went to Ikebukuro (the women's geek oasis in Tokyo) and bought a stack of fan manga and am rubbing my hands with glee. There were many delicious-looking Avengers books, enough that I was sad it's not so much my thing...only a few DC books, but I bought all the germane ones I could find. *grin* I don't know, I love Ikebukuro, I love how it's so friendly to female fans and the aisles are filled with young women shopping together and giggling and clapping their hands as they find something they really love...

Next time I go I should totally take orders from people here to see if I can find anything to inspire you all! Anime fandoms are the most popular of course, but there were a LOT of Sherlock-related things, along with a great deal of Supernatural, CSI: NY, and Harry Potter material...

Now if you'll excuse me, I am off to write until I fall asleep. *grin* I hope your weeks have been productive and wonderful--please tell me all about it and I'll hope to catch up soon!
