Workshop: "A Character Study of Slade Wilson, Part 1" by Ilyena_Sylph

Some time back, during one of the discussions about possible essays for superhero_muses, I was asked about doing an essay on Slade Wilson, Deathstroke. At the time, I tried to pass the buck to someone who was less personally invested in the character. That didn't happen, and it's been niggling at me ever since.

I admit, perhaps I'm not the best person to write this one, but I seem to be the one who's willing to. I owe katarik, merfilly, second_batgirl, and www.titanstower.com a huge debt.

Slade's history is... complicated, and at times he is utterly baffling to us, but here's my best shot at introducing him.

Workshop: "A Character Study of Slade Wilson, Part 2" by Ilyena_Sylph

In one of the biggest goofs in comics publication history, the first several Deathstroke issues released months before the end of the Titans Hunt storyline. Talk about spoilers. Even though it took until Deathstroke #5 for Slade to admit even to Wintergreen that he'd been forced to kill Joe... the issue of NT where Joe died wasn't published for another three months.
